St. Luke

According to tradition St. Luke was a very talented young man. He not only wrote a Gospel account and the Acts of the Apostles, he was also a Greek physician and an artist. There are four well known paintings of Mary that are attributed to Saint Like.

He is symbolized by a winged ox or bull – a figure of sacrifice, service and strength. He holds a feast day on October 18th, and is the Patron Saint of Artists/Painters, Brewers, Butchers, Notaries, and Physicians/Surgeons.
